LEARNING TO LOVE By Maia Kincaid, Ph.D |
On page one of her new and relevant book, Learning to Love, author and seer Maia Kincaid writes, "Do you ever wonder what an animal, plant, or an insect would say to humans if given a chance to converse?" She continues, "I discovered that when I quieted myself enough to listen to what the life around me had to say, I was bombarded with information, answers to those questions and more. I learned that animals, plants and even bugs live their lives with passion, a sense of earthly wisdom and authenticity." It is most unusual for this reviewer to be captivated and enchanted so quickly and completely, but this is what happened. And it just got better. Dr. Kincaid learned the secret. We are given two eyes, two ears---but only one mouth. That proportion tells us to look and listen twice as much as to talk. And that is what she does. |

Not just with people but with turtles, dogs, cats, horses, plants, birds and more. For instance, in the chapter called Gentle Giants, a humpback whale advises, "It is time in the lives of humans to examine your individual thoughts and actions, to ask what your motives are in all that you do. Take responsibility for how you utilize and distribute energy in your lives. Ask yourself if your thoughts and actions are based on love or fear. Be aware of the energy you bring in to yourself and that which you send out. Act on love. Transform negativity and fear into love before releasing it upon the universe." And from Ernie, the Parakeet. "You humans set up conditions that make your lives unpleasant. You make it difficult and sometimes even impossible to have satisfaction and success with regard to projects, relationships and even your health. What you need is more trust in yourself and more patience. You judge yourself too harshly at times." Learning to Love is a beautiful book. The messages are beautiful as are the style and wisdom. This reviewer heartily recommends Learning to Love and its companion book, Being Human & Loving Life. Both are superb books that will get you to think---and appreciate all that surrounds you!
