FOR ONE MORE DAY

By Denise Moon

In her brilliant autobiography (though the names have been changed for the comfort of others), author, artist and hospice care provider Denise Moon tells her story that ends in finding peace. “It was 7:45 AM, July 7, 2005. She was fifty years old, and she felt she had been held in bondage for nearly all of her life. On this morning, Sarah (Denise) decided that today would be her day of freedom. Then, Sarah walked over to the kitchen sink and poured the wine out of her glass”.

For One More Day tells (in great detail) of the life of a non-confrontational woman trapped in a world that included rape at a very early age, people who beat her continuously, mates who stole from her and ultimately left her penniless, in exclusion and total and complete social mistreatment. If there is a hell on earth, she was a resident. Her only escape was alcohol from this pitiful and painful existence. And so it was until she was rushed to the Emergency Room with a near fatal dose that brought her blood alcohol level to .40.

At an A.A. meeting she heard , “If you are seeking the answers outside of yourself, you will not find them. The answers you are seeking are inside of you”. And with such comfort, Sarah tried mightily to quit drinking, and, at the same time, find the self-reliance and self-love that had eluded her all her life. Indeed, a voice said to her, “Until now, you were simply lost. But now it is time to find the right path to follow”.

And so Sarah set new goals for herself, enrolled in some new classes and started taking control of her life once more, one day at a time.

For One More Day is a beautifully written story of a difficult life with a salient message. “You are not alone” is what she learned and in her heart she knew that God and the angels were beside her. For the first time in her life she believed she was not alone.

This reviewer truly believes in Sarah (Denise Moon) and recommends that For One More Day be on your must-read list!
